Just to show that it actually happened – here’s a shot of the tree I was forced to dismantle. Winds were clocked at around 80 mph that day. Dozens of trees fell around town, and a few houses got hit pretty hard. The car below was parked just down the street.
When the storm hit, I was out at a fruit stand under the safety of a lightweight canopy tent. Despite my panic, I actually remember to pay for my bell peppers before running for cover. I returned to find the mess in the backyard and the family huddled for cover in the living room.
