Proof is in the Pudding

TimberJust to show that it actually happened – here’s a shot of the tree I was forced to dismantle. Winds were clocked at around 80 mph that day. Dozens of trees fell around town, and a few houses got hit pretty hard. The car below was parked just down the street. carweb.jpgWhen the storm hit, I was out at a fruit stand under the safety of a lightweight canopy tent. Despite my panic, I actually remember to pay for my bell peppers before running for cover. I returned to find the mess in the backyard and the family huddled for cover in the living room.

I’m a blogger, and that’s okay.

The author, after a hard day of chopping wood. It’s sweet that you noticed a severe lack of blogging lately – and I admit that I’ve been bad. While the day job has taken its toll on my time and energy this summer, at least this week I have an excuse: vacation! What was supposed to be a relaxed week of beaching and feasting with family was rudely interrupted Monday night by a falling tree. At least now I can say I wield a mean band saw, I know where to find the emergency shut-off on a wood chipper, and have more splinters than I can count. But as you can see, hard work always impresses the ladies. Now I’m in the city for a day or so, then back up to the beach. And this time, Mother Nature better not mess with me.
